McKay: close to Bruno, leaning Spitzer

Eliot Spitzer, the disgraced former Governor, continues to call around to test the waters for a comeback-bid by challenging New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli.

If I was DiNapoli, I'd be concerned. New York State Independence Party Chairman Frank McKay, although historically close personally and politically to former Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno and Senate Republicans, is said to have told the New York Post he was open to the idea of endorsing Spitzer.

McKay, who is still uncommitted, is said to be leaning towards a cross-endorsement of a Democratic ticket-except DiNapoli.
