By Roger Stone Former New York Senator Alfonse D'Amato ripped into former Speaker Newt Gingrich today in the New York Post. D'Amato dismissed Gingrich's chances in a general election telling the Post the former Speaker's "past history in government and in his personal life make him unelectable". D'Amato went on to say Gingrich's" business relationships" would prevent him from being elected. This is the same Al D'Amato who dumped his wife almost immediately upon his election to the US Senate, kept numerous mistresses on the US Senate payroll and, as a lobbyist, once made one phone call to fix a contract at the Metropolitan Transit Authority for which he was paid $500,000. D'Amato has threatened not to support Gingrich if he is the nominee, which is not surprising after he endorsed Democrat Andrew Cuomo in last year's race for Governor. No one in New York considers D'Amato to be a Republican anyway. "He's not a Republican, he's just a whore" one Republican County Chairman told the Stonezone.
