President Donald Trump has been winning hard on foreign policy in recent weeks as he demonstrates, like former Republican Presidents Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon before him, how peace through strength can benefit America immeasurably.
Trump has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize by many people, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana. But Trump has also been nominated for a peace prize by the Islamic nation of Pakistan for diffusing tensions between Pakistan and India, a substantial development that has been largely glossed over by fake news media sources.
Pakistan nominated Trump for the Peace Prize because he “demonstrated great strategic foresight and stellar statesmanship through robust diplomatic engagement” that “de-escalated a rapidly deteriorating situation.” Before Trump played the role of mediator, India and Pakistan were on the brink of a major conflict, now the tensions have died down and the region is no longer inflamed as a direct result of Trump’s peacemaking actions.
President Trump also received a pledge for all NATO countries to pay 5 percent of their GDP to contribute to the common defense of Europe. This is another promise kept for Trump as he long pledged to get NATO countries to stop ripping America off and pay their fair share. NATO has been a subsidiary of the U.S. government for many years, using American taxpayer dollars to inflame situations like the Russia/Ukraine conflict. Now these European countries will be forced to put up their own money if they want to continue NATO’s excesses because of Trump’s impressive negotiating acumen.
President Trump has not taken his eye off the ball in any place across the globe, not even the continent of Africa that has been the prize of China and Russia in recent years. Last month, representatives from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda traveled to the White House to sign a historic peace deal next to President Trump. The deal ensures the “disengagement, disarmament and conditional integration” of various armed militant organizations skirmishing in the Congo. President Trump announced a “new chapter of hope and opportunity” that will arise because of this peace deal.
Trump also ended the Israel/Iran war by launching a precision strike on Iranian nuclear sites, setting their capability to build a nuclear bomb back many years as a result. Trump was able to live up to his promise of not allowing a nuclear Iran while also keeping the U.S. out of a failed regime change war similar to Iraq and Afghanistan. Trump smartly shrugged off the suggestions of neoconservatives who pushed him to get further involved in Iran. Next on the agenda for the Trump administration is a peace deal between Azerbaijan and Armenia where sectarian strife has resulted in the ethnic cleansing of thousands of Christians. The Trump doctrine is showing how honest, straight-forward diplomacy is a better option to make a safer world than occupying countries and playing world police.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio also deserves a tremendous amount of kudos for President Trump’s diplomatic successes as well. He has come a long way since being dubbed “Little Marco” on the debate stage while competing against Trump for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016. Rubio has proven himself to be a loyal and competent enforcer of Trump’s America First agenda abroad, and his stock is rapidly rising in MAGA world where he has become one of the most popular Trump associates. Rubio could be a formidable contender for the presidency in a future election down the road.
President Trump has taken the baton from Reagan and Nixon as truly iconic Republican chief executives with the courage to buck the foreign policy establishment when necessary to fulfill tremendous achievements. Reagan was widely heralded for bringing an end to communism in Russia with his military build-up while Nixon’s policy of rapprochement with China facilitated the spread of capitalism to that nation and saved millions from crushing poverty. In a globalized world, President Trump has the ability to replicate the victories of Reagan and Nixon to all regions of the world without dropping many if any bombs. This is what Trump is on the cusp of achieving, and he will be remembered for eons when his potential is fully achieved.
