Donald Trump has pulled us back from the precipice of disaster. The border is not merely porous. It has been deliberately dismantled by Marxist ideological extremists who reject sovereignty itself. What Stephen Miller recently articulated and posted about here is not rhetoric. It is a factual description of how the immigration system has been warped into an administrative conveyor belt delivering millions of unvetted foreign nationals directly into the interior of the United States.
To understand the danger, Americans must first understand what it actually means to parole someone into the country.
Under United States immigration law, parole is not admission. It is an extraordinary and temporary discretionary authority that allows a foreign national who is otherwise inadmissible to physically enter the United States for a limited period. Parole was intended to be rare. It was designed for urgent humanitarian emergencies or truly exceptional public benefit cases. It was never intended to function as an alternative immigration system.
When the federal government paroles someone into the country, that individual has not been granted a visa. They have not been lawfully admitted as an immigrant or non-immigrant. They are physically present at the sufferance of the executive branch alone. Their presence exists outside the normal statutory immigration framework. They may receive work authorization. They may be released into the interior. But they have not been vetted in the way legal immigrants are vetted, nor have they been approved by Congress through lawful immigration quotas.
This is where the abuse begins.
Advance Parole is a related but distinct mechanism. Advance Parole applies to foreign nationals already inside the United States who have a pending immigration application. It is a document that allows them to leave the country and request reentry without automatically abandoning that pending application. It is not a visa. It does not guarantee admission. It merely authorizes the individual to present themselves at a port of entry and ask Customs and Border Protection for permission to return.
Even then, Customs and Border Protection retains discretion. Advance Parole was intended to allow narrow humanitarian travel such as medical emergencies or family crises while an application is pending. It was never intended to normalize global travel for millions of individuals whose presence in the United States remains unresolved.
Under the Obama and Biden regimes, these tools were weaponized.
What was once a limited safety valve became a mass entry pipeline. Entire populations were paroled into the country in bulk. Not one by one. Not case by case. But through sweeping executive programs that bypassed Congress and shattered the rule of law. Hundreds of thousands were granted parole, work authorization, and release into American communities with minimal vetting and no meaningful enforcement mechanism to ensure departure when parole expired.
This is not compassion. It is recklessness.
Every sovereign nation has the right to determine who enters its territory. When parole is abused at scale, the government forfeits that right. The result is predictable. Criminal organizations exploit the chaos. Human trafficking flourishes. Drug cartels expand operations. Law enforcement loses visibility. Communities bear the burden. American workers face wage suppression. Social services are overwhelmed. National security is compromised.
How could this possibly be defended? The open borders ideology embraced by Barack Hussein Obama and Joe Biden rejects the very concept of national sovereignty. It elevates administrative convenience over constitutional order. It replaces law with discretion and discretion with ideology. It treats the American people as an afterthought.
This is why the stakes could not be higher.
President Donald Trump has made restoring border integrity a central mission because he understands what his predecessors either ignored or actively undermined. A nation without borders is not a nation. Ending mass parole programs, reasserting case by case enforcement, and restoring lawful immigration channels are not radical positions. They are the bare minimum requirements of self government.
Stephen Miller is correct to warn that parole has been transformed into a substitute immigration system. That transformation did not occur by accident. It was engineered by administrations hostile to enforcement and indifferent to consequence.
The question Americans must ask is simple. How much longer can a nation survive when its laws are optional, its borders are negotiable, and its sovereignty is treated as an obstacle rather than a duty?
We are in great danger. But the course can still be reversed. President Trump is making real progress because he understands that borders are not a suggestion. They are the foundation of the Republic.
