Judicial Watch has filed a federal lawsuit accusing California of failing to maintain clean and accurate voter rolls as required by the National Voter Registration Act. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Orange County Supervisor and secretary of state candidate Don Wagner, along with the American Independent Party of California.
It names California Secretary of State Shirley Weber in her official capacity. Judicial Watch says California has allowed 873,092 inactive voter registrations to remain on the rolls through at least three federal elections. More than 151,000 have allegedly remained inactive through at least four federal elections, and nearly 34,000 date back at least ten years.
The lawsuit also points to federal election data showing that 20 California counties removed a combined total of just 218 inactive registrations between November 2022 and November 2024, despite having more than 3.4 million registered voters. Ten counties reportedly removed zero.
Judicial Watch argues California is not making reasonable efforts to remove voters who have died, moved away, or become ineligible. The group also says 18 counties appear to have more registered voters than voting-age citizens.
This is a flashing red warning about election integrity in far-left California. California must be forced to follow federal law, remove ineligible names, and prove to voters that only legal ballots are being counted. This is why it is incumbent on Congress to pass the SAVE America Act, because these leftist states will not follow the law unless they are compelled to do so.
