Lindsey Graham’s Flamboyant Warmongering Undermines Trump’s Success in Iran

If you have had the dial turned to Fox News, you have probably seen Sen. Lindsay Graham peacocking all over your television set in recent days.

Graham is licking his lips like it’s 2003 all over again. Loose Lindsey is so excited you would think he was back frolicking at the Myrtle Beach men’s only bathhouse where he was “broken in” to the world of politics back in the serial bachelor’s younger years.

During a recent appearance on the Hannity show, Graham made ghoulish comments that drew immediate revulsion from across the political spectrum. He had the audacity to drool over the notion of sending the nation’s young men and women to the frontlines of war.

“I go back to South Carolina, I’m asking them to send their sons and daughters over to the Middle East,” Graham said on Fox New Channel’s “Hannity.” “What I want you do in the Middle East, to our friends in Saudi Arabia and other places, step forward and say, ‘This is my fight too. I join America. I’m publicly involved in bringing this regime down.’

“If you don’t, you’re making a great mistake and you’re going to cut off the ability to have a better relationship with the United States. I say this as a friend,” he added.

Graham’s words gave ammunition to the Democrats who are disingenuously trying to reframe themselves as the party of peace to win voters. Even Meghan McCain, daughter of the deceased warmonger, John, and certainly no foreign policy dove, was disgusted by Graham’s ghastly rhetoric.

“Nothing like a single, childless, septuagenarian telling American mothers to send their children to go possibly die in a war,” McCain said, showing how even a broken clock is right a couple times per day.

Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna, perhaps President Trump’s most reliable ally in the U.S. House, also set Graham straight in an X post.

“There are some in the Senate that advocate for war everywhere,” Luna wrote. “Lindsey Graham is one of them. He does NOT tell the President what to do, nor does he control Congress.”

“I have spoken with the administration a number of times, as well as other members of Congress over the last week or so, and nothing has changed regarding boots on the ground,” she added.

Graham’s rhetoric is irresponsible considering the situation on the ground and the capability of the military. No new recruits are needed to fight in Iran. The sophistication of drone and AI networks has severely lessened the need for manpower, and President Trump has already rebuilt forces from the perilous days of the woke Biden era.

What Lindsey Graham is advocating for is not the limited engagement effort frequently described by President Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and many others. President Trump has made it clear that this is going to be a quick war. The Supreme Leader of Iran has been deposed. Iran’s military capability has been devastated. The mission has essentially been accomplished.

Graham is fantasizing about a sustained mission in Iran. He will settle for nothing less than a full-blown regime change war. It’s not enough for him to get rid of the Supreme Leader and set the precedent that their belligerent actions will not be tolerated. Graham wants a long, protracted engagement – the type that President Trump ran against to be elected President by the people, and Graham will shamelessly agitate to get what he wants even if by doing so it means undermining MAGA.

Polls consistently indicate that the public understands the need to confront Iran, take out the Supreme Leader and prevent the country from having a nuclear program. What the American people do not support is a major war with Iran, which is blisteringly unpopular with everyone except the hardcore Republican base. Such an effort would alienate independent voters whose support Republicans urgently need to win during the midterms.

Neocons like Graham, joined by media cheerleaders like “former” Never Trumpers Ben Shapiro and Mark Levin, are always waiting in the weeds, hoping to exploit every situation to exacerbate conflict and send young Americans to die for foreign powers.  President Trump’s successful mission in Iran must not be the vehicle through which they hijack the America First movement and reroute it back to Bush-lite.
