President Donald J. Trump is charting a clear, America First course on Iran. In his statements posted on his Truth Social platform, President Trump dismantled the failures of the past while outlining a superior path forward.
He said: “One of the worst deals ever made by our Country was the Iran Nuclear Deal, put forth and signed into existence by Barack Hussein Obama… It was a direct path to Iran developing a Nuclear Weapon. Not so with the transaction currently being negotiated with Iran by the Trump Administration – THE EXACT OPPOSITE, in fact! The negotiations are proceeding in an orderly and constructive manner, and I have informed my representatives not to rush into a deal in that time is on our side. The Blockade will remain in full force and effect until an agreement is reached… There can be no mistakes! … I would like to thank… all of the countries of the Middle East for their support… perhaps the Islamic Republic of Iran would like to join [the Abraham Accords], as well!”
President Trump followed this with extensive diplomatic outreach, speaking to leaders from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The result: a memorandum of understanding for peace, with the Strait of Hormuz reopening under controlled terms that prevent nuclear breakout. This is diplomacy from strength—blockade intact, red lines firm, regional realignment possible. President Trump is delivering results without endless American entanglement.
Yet two prominent neoconservative senators who now claim to be staunch allies to the President, Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham, are expressing deep skepticism. Their support for President Trump appears conditional—tied not to his proven record of putting America First, but to whether he advances their preferred posture of prolonged confrontation for the military-industrial complex.
Senator Ted Cruz wrote in an X post: “I am deeply concerned about what we are hearing about an Iran ‘deal,’ being pushed by some voices in the administration. President Trump’s decision to strike Iran was the most consequential decision of his second term. He was right to do so… If the result of all that is to be an Iranian regime—still run by Islamists who chant ‘death to America’—now receiving billions of dollars, being able to enrich uranium & develop nuclear weapons, and having effective control over the Strait of Hormuz, then that outcome would be a disastrous mistake.”
Cruz’s warnings disingenuously frame any negotiated off-ramp as surrender. But this overlooks President Trump’s explicit rejection of the Obama deal and his insistence on verifiable dismantling of enrichment capabilities. President Trump understands the Islamist regime’s hostility. Yet he also grasps that perpetual military operations drain American resources while China and other adversaries expand their hegemony in the world. President Trump’s approach—military success leveraged into negotiations—is pragmatic, transactional, and effective, a substantial departure from the “protecting democracy” rationale that became a laughable joke during the failed Bush era.
Senator Lindsey Graham echoed similar doubts on President Trump’s ability to make a deal. He wrote in an X post: “If a deal is struck to end the Iranian conflict because it is believed that the Strait of Hormuz cannot be protected from Iranian terrorism and Iran still possesses the capability to destroy major Gulf oil infrastructure, then Iran will be perceived as being a dominate force requiring a diplomatic solution. This combination… is a major shift of the balance of power in the region and over time will be a nightmare for Israel… I personally am a skeptic of the idea that Iran cannot be denied the ability to terrorize the Strait.”
Graham, always the consummate brownnoser, acknowledged the potential brilliance of President Trump expanding the Abraham Accords but conditions his approval on maximalist terms meant to elongate the conflict. His focus on Israeli outcomes highlights a recurring neocon tendency: subordinating American strategic autonomy to the preferences of foreigners. President Trump, by contrast, pursues deals that benefit America first. President Trump is far too smart to be co-opted by the neocon War Party. He recognizes when Israeli or allied priorities diverge from American ones and always acts decisively in our interest. His agenda is to secure peace through strength without forever wars.
It must be remembered that many prominent neocons were the people who were the most outrageously anti-Trump after he came down the golden elevator and tipped over the GOP establishment’s applecart. During the 2016 primaries, Cruz repeatedly attacked Trump as a “pathological liar,” a “sniveling coward,” a “big, loud New York bully,” and “utterly amoral.” He refused to endorse President Trump at the Republican National Convention, urging voters to follow their conscience. Graham was even harsher, calling Trump a “race-baiting, xenophobic religious bigot” and declaring, “You know how you make America great again? Tell Donald Trump to go to hell.”
These senators now position themselves as President Trump’s supporters, but their criticisms reveal the conditional nature of their loyalty. They back President Trump when they feel he aligns with military interventionism, but when President Trump achieves peace in the Middle East, they push back. It shows that they do not really trust President Trump. They see him as a means to an end. This is seen throughout the entire neocon spectrum. ‘Journalist’ Laura Loomer even took to X claiming that President Trump could not bring Islam to heel under any circumstances, a ridiculous notion that paints the President as a weak leader.
Loomer said: “People are going to be jolted when they realize there’s no such thing as a peace deal with a Muslim country. Islamic countries, especially the Islamic Republic of Iran, don’t believe in peace, because Islam is inherently violent and focuses on conquering and killing all non Muslims. No peace deal with any Muslim country will ever be fruitful long term because Islam is inherently violent.”
Loomer’s comments expose her lack of belief in President Trump’s ability to make deals. The grotesque Rocky Dennis ringer thinks in her deranged mind that President Trump is powerless to cut a deal that could ever compel compliance or behavioral change from Iranians. President Trump rejects this defeatism. Through maximum pressure, targeted strikes, and diplomatic leverage, he will ensure the Iranian regime complies with red lines on nuclear weapons. His blockade, military successes in degrading Iran’s capabilities, and outreach to Sunni states create the conditions for verifiable restraint. Trump has consistently shown he can handle radical Islam: destroying ISIS, eliminating Soleimani, and deterring aggression without quagmires. President Trump’s strategy demonstrates superior wisdom. He thanks regional leaders for cooperation and leaves the door open for Iran to join broader peace if it abandons nuclear ambitions. This is not weakness—it is strength calibrated to avoid the trillions wasted and lives lost in previous Middle East adventures.
American interests with Israel remain strong—as they are truly among our greatest allies and the Lord shines His favor down upon us for our support for Israel—but our interests are not always identical. Remember Netanyahu’s swift congratulations to Biden, helping to legitimize the vacuous puppet after the stolen election of 2020, that allies can diverge, and sometimes even your closest allies can let you down when you need them the most. President Trump rightly says “no” when necessary even if it might draw the ire of Netanyahu and hard-line Israeli conservatives.
The American people elected President Trump to end nation-building and endless wars, not extend them under new management. Cruz and Graham’s concerns reflect an outdated mindset that President Trump has repeatedly outmaneuvered. In 2016, the public supported President Trump as their champion and rejected Cruz and Graham, for a reason. The public trusts President Trump to finalize a deal that prevents a nuclear Iran, reopens critical shipping lanes, expands normalization, and brings troops home when the job is done. President Trump’s results will speak louder than the shrieks of the pro-war panickans.
